Sansthan Festival Calendar 2026–2027: Plan Your Yatra Around These Dates
Devotees ask one question more than any other: "Which date should I choose for darshan?" The answer depends on what you want — a quiet darshan, or darshan on a day of special significance. This calendar lists the major festivals observed by Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan from late 2026 into early 2027, so you can plan your pilgrimage, train tickets and rooms in one pass.

Late 2026, Festival by Festival
Ganesh Chaturthi — 26 August 2026
Ten days of Ganeshotsav begin, rolling directly into Vijay Utsav week. Together they make 25 August to 9 September the busiest fortnight of the year at Shegaon. Families should book rooms far ahead.
Gajanan Vijay Utsav — 8 September 2026
The punyatithi of Shri Gajanan Maharaj and Shegaon's single largest observance. Continuous rituals, special aartis, bhajan programmes and large-scale mahaprasad. Arrive a day early if you can.
Sharad Navratri — 3 to 11 October 2026
Nine days of devi worship with decoration and special aarti each evening at Sansthan temples. The Ashtami/Navami weekend draws the biggest footfall of the period. A good festival for devotees who want atmosphere without the single-day crush of Vijay Utsav. The nine-day Navratri darshan plan covers the full schedule day by day.
Diwali — 20 October 2026
Lakshmi Pujan day sees evening crowds and beautiful decoration. Diwali week is also school-holiday season, so family traffic is higher than usual throughout.
Kartik Ekadashi — 2 November 2026
Dev Uthani Ekadashi is especially significant at Pandharpur, where the Sansthan serves devotees of Vitthal. If your devotion centres on Pandharpur, this is your date; book Pandharpur accommodation early.
Early 2027
Makar Sankranti — 14 January 2027
The start of the auspicious Uttarayan period. A pleasant-weather festival day at Shegaon, popular with families and senior citizens.
Gajanan Maharaj Jayanti — Magh Shukla Saptami
The birth celebration of Shri Gajanan Maharaj, falling in late January or early February per the lunar panchang (confirm the exact date for 2027 with the Sansthan). Along with Vijay Utsav, this is one of the two defining festivals of Shegaon.
Maha Shivaratri — 15 February 2027
The biggest night of the year at the Sansthan's Trimbakeshwar and Omkareshwar locations — both major jyotirlinga centres. Expect night-long darshan queues and heavy demand for rooms near the temples; the Shivaratri planning guide covers both locations in detail.
Holi — 1 March 2027
Observed with traditional enthusiasm; the following day (Dhulivandan) sees lighter crowds and a relaxed atmosphere.
Choosing Between a Festival Day and a Quiet Darshan
There is no wrong answer, only a mismatch between expectation and reality:
- Choose festival days if you want collective energy, special aarti and the sight of the temple at its most resplendent — and you are comfortable with crowds and longer queues.
- Choose ordinary weekdays if your priority is unhurried darshan, time for prayer and a relaxed visit to Anand Sagar. Mid-week days outside festival weeks give you the calmest experience.
- Choose the shoulder edges — one or two days before a major festival — if you want a bit of both: the build-up atmosphere without the peak-day crowd.
Whenever you come, book your stay through the Sansthan's official channels, and carry your booking reference.
